Big dreams and an incredible vision fueled the motivation for Holly & James McCready to open Rain the Salon in the summer of 2004 (Rain the Spa came in 2007). The dream was to bring a 'true experience' to each guest and be a part of this wonderful community we live in.
At the young age of 23, James (still in college) and Holly (with very little experience) set out to open a salon. With dreams of creating an exciting atmosphere, 100% dedicated to the guest experience, they began their mission. As James searched for the perfect location, he heard rejection after rejection. Finding someone that would allow 23-year-old college kids an opportunity to lease a space proved to be harder than imagined. Then came Mr. Dinky Liner...while he did say it was against his better judgement, he had someone take a chance on him as a 20 something and he wanted to do the same for James & Holly...and Rain was born...1912 Roselawn Ave, Monroe, La in July 2004.
Having zero experience and being so young would definitely prove to provide obstacles, but James & Holly never viewed failure as an option. They worked hard to cultivate a team atmosphere and make it a safe place stylist could grow and succeed. 'Teamwork makes the dreamwork' has always and will always be at the top of the priority list.
Rain's mission has always been to serve our guests with the most talented professionals that have a passion for education and giving back to our community. 'With a very passionate team and incredibly loyal guests, that dream has become reality. Our mission hasn't changed, and we strive every day to be better than yesterday...to bring the absolute best to our guests.'
As fate would have it, James 'fell' upon the 407 DeSiard location by chance. While looking through antique furniture that had been secretly stowed away in a once abandoned space, James was invited to look at the building across the street. Michael Echols had just purchased these locations and upon clearing them out, the incredible jewel was revealed. This was THE space James had dreamed about, this was THE location he had always imagined, the perfect spot for the dream of community, guest experience, and architectural character to come alive.
Walking in the doors of Rain, you will be greeted with an incredible team of professionals and be swept away into luxury during your experience. If the (original) 21' domed wood ceilings and beautiful brick walls don't excite you, the luxurious Spa Lounge and outside courtyard are sure to relax you. This space allows us to serve our guests better than ever. Treat yourself...take a two-hour vacation...we promise you will feel like you've escaped from reality.

Because of the incredible hard work of the Monroe Downtown Renaissance Committee, James and Holly felt as though 2013 was the perfect time to go downtown. 'We believe in this revitalization, we believe in those beautiful memories of getting dressed up to go to The Palace and spend the day downtown, we believe that our community is craving for the heartbeat of Monroe to come back.' On January 3, 2013, Rain the Salon and Day Spa opened their doors and joined several restaurants, the many art galleries, and all the other businesses downtown working hard to bring it back alive.
Join us in the rehabilitation of downtown, it's the secret to our sense of community that can take the twin cities to the next level.
The progress made so far has been incredible. Having a thriving downtown area makes all great cities what they are. It's time for Monroe to be a place to visit, to be a place that there is ALWAYS something fun to do, to be a place where people come together. With continued passion and community support, the heartbeat of downtown Monroe WILL live again!
